Create a Yoke
The Challenge
"I have a small amount of beautiful yarn, but not enough for a whole sweater. I want to draft a sweater with a yoke to use my special yarn"
Fellow knitter, Sigrid had a garment shape that she's used again and again. Her "special yarn" knits at a completely different gauge than the main yarn she plans to use, so it isn't just a matter of switching yarns to create a yoke.
She'll create a separate piece so she can generate knitting instructions separately for the body and yoke based on her 2 gauges.

- Establish the "split" by adding points
- Duplicate the front piece
- Remove the lower points from the copy to create the yoke
- Remove the upper points from the original piece to create the lower body
- Having 2 new pieces allows you to knit the separately at different gauges

Different Gauges?
Now that we've created separate pieces for the yoke, how do we generate knitting instructions for different gauges?Remember, the Original Pattern Drafting workspace only "sees" one gauge at a time.
We cannot assign different gauges to individual pieces.
Printed Instructions:
- Set your YOKE tension
- Generate your printed instructions
- Clearly mark the instructions "YOKE"
- Set your GARMENT tension
- Generate your printed instructions
- Clearly mark these instructions "BODY"
Interactive Knitting:
- Choose your garment piece
- Set the tensions for that piece
- Follow the pattern instructions for that piece at that gauge
- Repeat for each garment piece
